  • Resinous wood, such as Larch or Douglas Fir needs to weather for at least 6 weeks.
  • Pressure impregnated wood and tropical species like Massaranduba, Bangkirai, Garapa, Iroko need to weather off for at least 3 months.
  • Cedar requires 3 months to weather off to improve absorbency.

Weathered Wood

  • Greyed and weathered wood can be refreshed with .
  • Avoid using power washers as this can significantly affect the coverage of Osmo Decking Oils.
  • Clean and sand old microporous stains and completely remove old varnishes before application. Sanding to finishing grades of no more than a P120 grit is recommended.
  • If additional protection against blue stain, rot, and insect attack is desired ( e.g. softwoods) , pre-treat the wood, if possible on all sides, with Osmo WR Impregnation.

Application

Before applying the product test a small area on the surface to be treated to ensure you are happy with your results.

  • Stir product thoroughly.
  • Use a stiff brush or lint-free cloth, we recommend using Osmo's Decking Brush (150mm) for quick and easy application.
  • Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain.
  • Leave to dry for 12 hours.
  • Apply a second coat as above ensuring to apply the product thinly.
  • If a less intensive colour is desired, the second coat should be carried out with clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430. Generally the more rich and dark the colour chosen, the higher the level of UV protection offered. Avoid applying clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 as a stand-alone finish as this offers limited UV protection.
